TUSCANY
Famed for it's breath-taking landscapes packed with golden vineyards, Tuscany has plenty to boast about. Simple ingredients with deep flavour such as the region's tomatoes, unsalted bread and olive oil are central to it's cuisine, with others providing perfect inspiration for No.5 on the Sugo menu.
ROLLING IN THE HILLS
Famed for it's breath-taking landscapes packed with golden vineyards, Tuscany has plenty to boast about. From walking the country lanes to driving the winding roads into the picturesque hilltop towns, the remarkably endless countryside seems to naturally arrange itself into an exquisite view, each one more impressive than the last.
Home to world famous art and attractions such as Michelangelo's "David", The Leaning Tower of Pisa and Uffizi and the Palazzo Pitti museums, the region is steeped in history and culture, with the birthplace of the Italian Renaissance, Florence, right at the heart of it all.
And fuelling all of this, of course, is the rich flavours and deliciousness of world renowned Tuscan food and drink. We'll promptly address the elephant in the room - wine. Tuscany is the proud producer of some of Italy’s most popular wines like the reds of Chianti, the Brunello from Montalcino and the critically acclaimed Super Tuscans. Simple ingredients with deep flavour such as the region's tomatoes, unsalted bread and olive oil are central to it's cuisine, with others providing perfect inspiration for the Sugo menu.
While food in Italy is world famous, the Tuscan region really is the crème de la crème of Italian cuisine.
No.5
Rich, intense and meaty sauces are a staple in Tuscany, and we have paid tribute to this with this classic dish. Originating in Tuscany, pappardelle is large, very broad and flat, providing a plentiful surface to carry the accompanying ingredients. Tender and sumptuous, our slow cooked beef ragu melts to the touch, resting delicately on our fresh pasta. Finished here, of course, with a sprinkling of parmesan, but we'll leave that up to you. Just know, there may be judgement in it's absence.
